Bezeq The Israel Telecommunication Corp., Ltd.
In October 2005, Saban Capital Group, Apax Partners and Arkin Communications acquired from the State of Israel, as part of a privatization tender, control of Bezeq Group (“Bezeq”) in a leveraged transaction. The consortium acquired 30% of the Company and an option to purchase an additional 10.7%, which was subsequently exercised in September 2008. Bezeq is publicly listed on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange.
Bezeq is Israel’s incumbent telecommunications company. Bezeq’s Fixed Line business provides core telephony services and high-speed Internet infrastructure. Bezeq’s mobile subsidiary, Pelephone, offers cellular voice services and products. Bezeq International provides broadband internet services, international long distance and owns the leading Israeli web portal Walla!. The Company’s pay-TV platform, YES, is Israel’s only provider of direct-to-home, multi-channel television via satellite.
The Saban-Apax-Arkin consortium sold its controlling interest in Bezeq to B Communications, an Israeli telecommunications company controlled by Eurocom Group, in April 2010.
